Crafting a Light Bulb Moment story is no easy task. Here are some tips to ensure that your Light Bulb Moment really sparks interest:
Map out what you would like to convey in your story before you even begin writing it. Anything from a bulleted list of points you want to cover to a full outline including specific details will help you to organize your thoughts so you can easily craft your masterpiece.
Make it personal! Use your name, your job title, job titles of others in the story, etc. The more personal you make it, the more others will want to read it - and thus, learn from it. (example: I was completely unaware of other project management techniques, so when I heard of Agile methodologies I was completely caught off guard.)
Get detailed! The more information you post in your story, the more others can relate to and learn from your amazing experience. So go on and share quotes, thoughts, specific times/dates/places, feelings or anything else that helps describe your experience.
The beginning and end of your story are the most important parts. The best intros are those that provide a bit of detail, but also encourage the reader to continue on to find out more (example: We thought we had everything figured out in our waterfall approach. The client was happy, we were happy...but boy, were we wrong.) The outro sums up your story and the lessons you had learned during your Agile transition and should also cause your readers to feel inspired (example: Weathering the waterfall approach is no longer an option for our company. Agile helped to clear the skies and show us the best way to forge on ahead.)
